While I’ve been more or less quiet lately on the politcal front, I came across this story today which just infuriates me to no end.
Hey, I’m not going to be naive here on my own blog and state that corruption in politics doesn’t exist in both parties, but this is just beyond belief and liberals and democrats should be just downright ashamed. If this swings in Al Franken’s favor, I just don’t see how any self-respecting man would accept a win under these conditions.
The report indicates a very ‘fishy’ interpretation by the Canvassing Board that is currently recounting votes or as the article states, ‘divining’ what the voter intended. The examples shown are just so blatantly hypocritcal and one-sided any sane person with a second grade education should be apalled….even if it is for yoru own party. Hell, as a Republican I’d never respect a member of the GOP who wins his/her office this way and I myself would ask for a recount.
It amazes me that the Canvassing Board is favoring thier decisions towards Franken. To be fair, there have been some mistakes made in favor of Coleman, but very little in comparison that they are pushing through for Franken. It’s fucking absurd and Minnesotan’s should be embarrassed. The Canvassing Board should be thrown out and reselected….from scratch, and I’m all for criminal prosecution if they discover any shennanigans.
Like the saying goes…”Where there is smoke…there is usally fire.” I know the left is prancing around like a little girl on prom night after the Presidential win (although they are already crying amongst themesleves that Obama picked Rick Warren to preside over his innauguration…God, you guys will bitch about eveything), but if Al Franken accepts this sham as a legitimate win…I’ll buy a Barbara Striesand record..once she move’s out of the country that she promised when George Bush won…

I think it’s very hard for anyone to argue that Hollywood or the entertainment industry here in the states does not indeed lean left. Perhaps much of it is stereotyping, and on occassion unfair, but who hasn’t recognized that half-baked celebrities haven’t used award shows as a soap box for their own personal beliefs….and if you don’t agree with them (like me), then there must be something wrong with you.
Hollywood is a fickle lover, who doesn’t like to be scorned or judged. You so despretely want to like them, you need them, but dare say you ever disagree with them, then you are labeled the imbecile. It’s okay for them to judge everyone else, just don’t judge them….they’re just ‘misunderstood‘.’ (gag)
Even the news is unfair in the realm of politics as of late. If you’re intelligent to take off your blinders and really consider how they portray the parties, you’ll notice the left love-fest and the right-hate. NBC is the worst offender, but that doesn’t stop me from watching many shows on NBC.
Many people label FoxNews as the ‘right-handed’ news network. Well, that’s debateable. While I do find they may lean slightly to the right, they are much more in the middle, where NBC clearly is out in ‘left-field’ (just watch 30 Rock or SNL so far this season). And to those that say Fox is indeed ‘right’ and I agree with you, that makes all of one (1 network) right sided, whereas CBS, NBC, ABC, PBS and a few others clearly lean left. That doesn’t seem that fair to me. But I digress, this rant isn’t about the news. It’s about the nightly entertainment lineups. I’m not talking about sketch comedy shows like The Daily Show, Colbert Report, or SNL….I’m taliking about the regular night time dramas.
Boston Legal is one of my favorite shows. It always has been, and I enjoy it immensly. I like most of what creator/writer David E. Kelly churns out. He’s given us The Practice, Picket Fences, Boston Public and a slew of many other intelligently written and thought provoking shows. He’s good and so is Aaron Sorkin (West Wing…on NBC no doubt), but they’re both cut from the same cloth.
However, episode 7, ‘Mad Cows’ which aired on November 3rd, one day before the presidential election was so contrived, one-sided, and so blatantly filled with pro-Obama, anti-McCain propaganda, it made my stomach churn.
So why are you talking about this now Nate? Well, I tivo’ed it, and just got around to watching it yesterday. There was an exchange between the two main characters, Denny Crane (William Shatner) and Alan Shore (James Spader) that was not only over the top….it was clearly and undoubtly David Kelly’s handiwork in placing his anti-McCain message rhetoric. It was shameful, dirty, and an abuse of the entertainment medium to tell voters the day before the election, who to vote for and giving a one-sided viewpoint.
It was written in such a way that Denny’s character looked like a idiotic dolt and of course Alan’s character had argument after point after example which made Obama look Christ incarnate. It was an hour long veiled attempt at an Obama infomerical. It was sickening and outrageous that ABC allowed this epsiode to air and the timing was ‘unmistakingly’ planned and championed to air November 3rd.
For shame on David E. Kelly, and ABC for allowing personal agendas to spill over into our nightly entertainment. I can’t recall when I’ve ever been so mad at a show I normally love.
I guess it even bothers me moreso when I was flipping channels is that I happened to stop briefly on a CNN newcast last night. CNN has already polled people on how they think Obama has been doing thus far (his approval rating) since being elected. Are you shitting me? He was elected the evening of the 4th. Last night was the 10th. That’s 6 days he’s been President Elect, and CNN is reporting that 3 out of 4 people approve of Obama’s actions thus far. What the FUCK? He’s not the President…yet. What has he done in the last 6 days? He’s selected his Chief of Staff, told his daughters they can have a dog, and met with Bush for a preliminary transition talk. HE HASN’T DONE ANYTHING YET, nor does he even have the power to do so until January 20th, 2009 and CNN already is polling people on his approval rating? After 6 days? Are you fucking kidding me?
Oh the next 4 years are just gonna be a hoot. Seems NBC, ABC, David Kelly and CNN have already picked the messiah of the free world.

Unless by some miracle of miracles, or some major damaging revelation in the next few weeks, Barack Obama secured the Presidency last night during the debates.
And it pains me to say that.
While I have been very critical of both parties in the past, and clearly I have made it clear that McCain was not my pick to represent me as a life long Republican, I was admittedly more energized with his pick of Sarah Palin. Say what you will about her…I’ve read plenty of left wing criticism (most unfounded and just spiteful), Gov. Palin gave this ’ole redneck something to hope for in our future and thus probably would have made me vote for McCain.
But after watching last nights debate (I have watched them all, by the way), Obama more or less has this all wrapped up. Not because he delivered a solid plan or has a complete understanding of global events (he doesn’t), or is America’s savior by any means. He won because John McCain failed to impress. So many pundits (and I agree) needed McCain to come out swinging. He needed to deliver a punch…a sound byte that would resonate….that we would all be talking about. He needed to go out on a limb and make an attack and convince us why he is indeed better (you don’t have to be nasty to Obama to do this), yet McCain remained reserved and spouted the same ‘ole, same ‘ole that us Republicans just don’t listen to anymore.
That’s the real problem with the Republican party right now. At least with all my friends and family that I speak to and discuss issues with. The Republicans are still mired in the same few buzzwords and sentences that only matter to a small niche within the party. I’d like to think up and coming adults (like me) see through the ‘company line’ of bullshit both parties have used adnauseum and put media pandering aside and talk to ‘us’. They keep saying they do….but in reality they don’t.
McCain’s failure to walk away from the last night and leave a lasting impression on the ‘average Joe’ on what exactly he will indeed do different and why it is indeed better cost him the election in my opinion.
I am so tired of the same old buzzwords: “Wallstreet vs. Mainstreet”. Gag. Turn on CNN, FOX, MSNBC, Meet the Press, etc., etc., and they ALL use this term twenty times or more in any single broadcast…and I guarantee you, most people do not make the conenction. That buzz word has an adverse affect on the average Joe. When I hear it now, today, as I’ve heard it everyday for the last few weeks…I hear the same rhetoric over and over again as if journalists all write their columns from the same jargon pool….as if we, the avergae American, is indeed to stupid to see through all this.
The fact of the matter is both parties have failed us miserably. There are those that will blame the Bush administration of teh last eight years for the finanical debacle we’re in today. Yes, while the Bush administration ’should’ take some blame, the Democratic Congress allowed this shit to happen under thier watch as well. Barney Frank is to blame of Freddie Mac and Fanny Mae, as are all those Dem’s who fought Clinton on stricter oversight in the financial sector. I can’t beleive I am saying this, but I give props to Bill Clinton for attempting to do something a decade ago…but his own Democratic underlings rejected his recommednations.
Obama also scored on Afghanistan and Iraq/Iran. Not because he will be a better commander in chief and not because he has international experience. As a Republican, I watched him point out time and time again we failed in Pakistand and Afghanistan and we took our eye of the prize in getting Osama Bin Laden……and I agree. McCain had chance after chance to respond in a very strong way here….but did not. His attempts to defend our decisions on leaving Afghanistan and Pakistan were watered down and did not resonate with us of a hawkish menatility of getting Bin Laden.
While I am indeed afraid…actually very afraid of an Obama adminstration and its policies over the next four years (I don’t buy the fact at all I am not going to be taxed more), healthcare debacles, Russian re-emergence, and a lot of socialistic softball policies here at home….I am almost glad he won. I man enough to admit that we didn’t put on our ‘A’ game. I’m not even sure we put up Plan B. I think the Republican party has put up a very ‘average’ campaign as of late and very complacent of the status quo. Hopefully those in the party, the party who abandoned ‘us’, will wake up after election day once Obama is in office and take a good hard look in the mirror and realize they are indeed out of touch and fucked this up big time. Dare I say ‘we’ deserve to lose this time around…and hopefully will have learned our lesson and come back with a whole new outlook, strategy, and party in 4 more years.
Congratulations President Obama, you won the office because we Republicans just handed it to you on a silver platter on October 7th, 2008…..The night Senator McCain failed to show up.

No title because I really can’t think of one right now.
Kat, I got your tag….and I’ve actually been thinking about it the last few days. It’s harder than I thought to come up with a 6 word epitaph, so bear with me as I need a few more days.
Had a un-scheduled hook-up the other day with Becky, which was nice and unexpected. I’ll be more salacious later.
So David Cook won A.I. last night. Yeah, I personally thought he was more ‘marketable’ than Archuleta, but I was a bit surprised. I actually think Archuleta’s dad harmed his chances with all his antics backstage that was leaked to the press. I guess Archuleta Sr. is a task master, making a lot of demands on his 17 year old son and the pressure was affecting him. Producers and judges alike had some raised eyebrows towards the paternal ‘coach’, and I think this seriously did harm his chances. But I think David Cook was the superior choice, but hey, I don’t produce albums, sniff coke, wear tons of bling and act fake….so what do I know that the record industry doesn’t.
Politics: So I guess Obama and McCain are starting their VP interviews. I can’t believe I am actually about to say this, but I’d like to see Hillary get a bit more traction. I really am learning to despise Obama more and more. It was also revealed that Ted Kennedy has an inoperable form of brain cancer and his time may be short for this world. I’ll refrain from my gut reaction, but I will say I don’t wish anyone dead.
When does The Shield or Rescue Me start again on F/X? Seems they are late.
Artie Lange is a one sided, overpaid, baby who should be thanking Howard every day for his success, lest he be the next John Belushi or Chris Farley. Difference was, they were actually really funny and somewhat genuine in their own way and didn’t talk as if they were superior to everyone else half the time.
Not sure where that brief ounce of bitterness came from….just filing space I suppose…
I’ve been in a strange mood lately. I’ve been slightly bored with everything, and have considered playing hooky a few days from work. I’ve been abnormally tired lately and in spare time, all I want to do is read or play Xbox. It’s like I know my body is physically somewhere, but my mind is in a different time zone altogether.
Oh, I finally saw the Kim Kardashian sex tape the other day. She’s really cute in a semi-full-figured type of way. Is the word ‘curvacious’?
Somebody, give me a topic already.

Oy….This weekend was unseasonably hot. What’s strange is that about a week ago it was mid 60s, overcast, and even drizzly. This weekend almost broached 100 degrees, and I went from running my heater a week ago to praying the air-conditioner didn’t fail from over use this weekend.
Needless to say I didn’t do a helluva lot. I’m not doing outdoor chores when the air feels like a blast furnace at 10 am. It also sucks out all one’s energy so I felt I was in constant need of a nap all weekend, but because of the heat…it made for difficult sleeping. So I did laundry..and it was so hot I just let my clothes drip dry instead of using the dryer and it worked very well.
My one wise move: I spent Saturday late afternoon at a local watering hole throwing back a few cold ones and watching the Masters. Tiger…what happened? Double ‘Oy.’ I ran into an old friend there and we shot the breeze for a while and caught up on old times…like high school crap from 20 years ago. I wonder why we were never really close friends or buds back then? We’re better friends today, though we did socialize in different circles.
I also made it to the gym both Saturday and Sunday and worked out relatively hard. My muscles ache today. I thought my arms were gonna fall off last night and my biceps and back are tender to the touch. As much as I’m complaining about it, the endorphin/serotonin rush was euphoric and I felt hella good. I’d like to try and hit one day during this week as well and maybe turn over a new leaf….again. I just might because the gym was more or less empty and they had the a/c on as well. Be nice to tone up a bit for summer.
So this morning on my way to work, I was kinda? flirting with this girl driving next to me. She was really cute and exotic looking…and younger. She was like part Asian, Spanish and European, but her asian features were dominant. She was putting makeup on while driving (always a horrible idea ladies…) and we were stealing glances and smiles to each other. I really wanted to roll down my window and the next light and offer my number, but she pulled ahead and I saw her bumper sticker….and I’m not 100% sure why…but I internally rolled my eyes and said ‘Nope’.
Like those artsy-fartsy Che Guerrera silhouette Andy Warhol looking political posters of the 60’s, she had one with Obama’s portrait that simply said ‘HOPE’. Ugh….gag. It’s a good thing McCain is laying low right now. Clinton and Obama continue to amaze me with their gaffs as of late, and his recent comments about those living in Pennsylvania who are ‘bitter’ and ‘clinging to their guns’ just makes me ill. Why, someone please tell me why he is so fricken popular? I cannot recall one valid and actual idea he really has on an issue. It’s like he’s on total cruise control and just gaining and gaining despite his ties to Rev. Wrong, his wife past gaffs, and his continued alienation of certain societal segments. Am I really out of touch of mainstream America? I must be. I don’t think I am overly educated, but I would like to beleive I can admit to defeats (Bush no longer has my unfettered support as does the party), Clinton is as phony as a $3 dollar bill, McCain is a one trick pony and has no immigration policy, and Obama……I honestly draw a blank on what he stands for. Don’t tell me ‘Change’ or ‘Hope’. Those are very nice words…but how do ‘buzzwords’ actually equate to a feasible and sustainable plan? Define ‘Hope’ and ‘Change’ into something that he will actually apply.
In the meantime I’ll just keep staring at Angelica Bridges. I could stare at her all day:
